Reign drops keep falling from my head...

"precipitation"

one drop was all this took
drizzle then showers
all the sky a blue fighting low grey clouds
quenching an arid plot of long lost life before rainbows
me with colorful high hopes
falling
tears, rivers streaming through gutters, winds blowing
and without an umbrella relishing the wetness of my cheeks
my hair disheveled, my heart on straight
liberated
saturated
cultivated & sprouting
drenched to my bones & singing in my reign

Despite a monsoon season, I miss the rainy days of Michigan when clouds overcast all, the world's silent save for the drip drops of delight that sing to me all the day. I adore these days & will tell you that a walk in the rain is my favorite way to relax. I'm also the one you'll never see running from the car to wherever. I get wet, cause I do dry. My favorite drenched memory was 3 years back. Hailey was 4 Grant 7 & while in Target it was sunny. So as I pushed a cart of kids & dids & the rainy began gentle...yup they protested. Off came my raincoat & over the cart it went.... 10 steps out the door & it went torrential!!! Crazy heavy straight rain, children laughing as I get soaked & me....doing Gene Kelly imitation with a cart!! Yup they were safe, dry & I squished in my seat the whole way home but the giggling...thats what now keeps me quenched.
Please forgive the naughty blogger I am. I'm working up a storm to make up for the 5 months off recuping & the 2 weeks vacation to be with my little rain buddies...which occurs in 2 weeks. I haven't been with them since January. Once I return I'll be back to my 2 plus a week, but for now enjoy the rain I'm praying you get to cool & nurture you. Allow a few to hit your tongue for me.

I'll leave you with the 2 best reasons to be a bad blogger......

Hi Alicia.. gorgeous images from a gorgeous blogger. I too love to run out in the rain. My favourite memory being in Florence. I was on the Pont de Vechio with new friends from language class and it started to rain. Everyone ran for cover, except the crazy australian who was thankful for rain and being wet after days of 40 degree celcius. Glad you have your vacation coming up and I know you will enjoy your time with your favourite people! xx Julie

Oh Alicia, I love the first picture with the rain...you're too clever for me.....being English it's obligatory to love the rain..and I do..I love walking, running, splashing, drinking and dancing in it..." what a glorious feeling, I'm happy again "
It's also wonderful laying in a gloriously warm bed with the glow of the bedside lamp,a hot (or alcoholic ! ) drink and the rain beating on the window....heaven.....enjoy yourself with your little rain playmates. Take care. XXXX

That is one clever photo, I thought I was seeing things! Enjoy your break and you have two gorgeous reasons to take one. I love rain storms too.....just not all summer. If you are heading to Michigan, we seem to be in a nice-weather zone right now (I'm just across the border)so we share the same weather.

We had lovely summer rain all day today -- as much as I love the sunshine, sometimes you can't beat a rain shower.

Btw, you won my giveaway! Shoot me an email at averillh1@gmail.com and let me know what color vase you'd like as well as your address. :)

Alicia, yay you won the Odi ta Amo giveaway. Have a great time on your trip & a fabulous time with Hailey & Grant. I used to play in the rain as a kid but here in Southeast Texas, it may be a bad idea to do that. I haven't been able to blog much myself lately or check/read out other blogs. I'll wait for your return & your fabulous new posts!

Will miss you too Alicia...enjoy yourself and we will be back commenting and posting soon,
Lots of love and take care. XXXX

I love this post - especially because I would just love for it to pour out there today! I am so over the heat, and hope that when the rain returns to seattle before long, you will remind me of how much I dislike really really hot dry weather!
Bon weekend,
xo

Alicia, those are certainly two fantastic reasons to be a bad blogger :) The rain photos are beautiful, as are your memories. They reminded me of a summer when I was college-- my family moved after I graduated high school, and my best friend from home had come to visit us. One afternoon while she was visiting, it started raining, but it was a sunny downpour; my friend, my youngest brother and I went outside to dance and play in the rain. We laughed so hard and had so much fun, and I haven't thought of that in a long while. It makes me think maybe next time I get caught in an unexpected downpour, I should take my time reaching my destination. Thanks for the reminder! xo

Thanks so much for leaving advice on kindling friendships for me on my blog. I really appreciated it. I could tell, just from your writing voice, how friendly and open you are. I'm not surprised you have friends all over the world either. That, and you have the biggest happiest smile for your profile photo I've ever seen. :)
As for blogging, those two kiddos are worth a million days of ignoring the computer. But I loved the image of the rain falling. Along with the margaritas and mojitos to the side. Your blog is the perfect little retreat. Love it. Don't stray away for too long.
Hope all's well.~heather

I too love the rain but only sometimes! When you have no where particular you have to go ~ stretch out your arms, tilt your head back and just spin. Have a wonderful vacation with your peeps! Don't worry ~ we will still be here when you get back.

Two gorgeous reasons mom ;)
This rain.. I went food shopping yesterday..when I went in, it was just drizzling and still sunny. When I came out, it was POURING and black..All I could do was laugh, because I had to take my sandals off and walk barefoot and my pants were literally stuck to my skin..Thank goodness I had my daughter's kids size 14/16 raincoat on..When I got home my husband ran for the camera because the site was just histerical..LOL.

I will admit that I love rainy days. I had some of the same thoughts as you did on the room that I posted. I do not think the room is magazine worthy, but somehow it got there. Thanks for playing.

gorgeous munchkins to distract you from blogging--
we can dream of rain all we want these days, I'm ready to move to Portland to get away from the desert right about now....

not a fan of rain... beautiful post though. I grew up in Seattle so I'm so over rain!

That restaurant you asked about is the postino's one behind la grande orange. Not the pizza place. If you don't eat there you MUST! The food is amazing and has beautiful presentation and the place isn't stuffy at all!
